In a formal ceremony hosted by Peter Döhle Schiffahrts-KG in Hamburg, WISTA Germany today announced the appointment of Jens Michael Priess and Dr Alexander Geisler as the organisation’s first official ambassadors.
With this honour, WISTA Germany recognises men who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to diversity, inclusion, and the advancement of women in the maritime industry. The newly established role of WISTA Ambassador was initiated by the organisation’s Diversity Taskforce. The aim is to shine a spotlight on dedicated advocates of WISTA’s mission and to actively engage men as allies in promoting gender equality across the shipping sector.

Jens Michael Priess is being honoured for his long-standing and consistent advocacy for equal opportunities – both in his role at Skuld and in his broader professional and personal life. As an active member of the Diversity Taskforce, he played a key role in developing and implementing the ambassador initiative. His genuine support and continuous efforts to promote fair opportunities make him a role model within the industry.
Dr Alexander Geisler, long-time Managing Director of the German Shipbrokers’ Association, is being recognised for his sustained support of female talent and his extensive involvement in diversity initiatives. Through his strategic work in the association, he has provided significant impetus for a modern, inclusive maritime economy and has persistently championed greater visibility for women in leadership roles.
Both ambassadors signed the international WISTA Pledge during the event, reaffirming their personal commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion within the maritime sector.
“With the appointment of our first ambassadors, we are sending a clear message: diversity concerns us all – and only together can we drive real change,” stated WISTA Germany’s Diversity Taskforce.
